Research & Development (R&D) Tax Consultant
R&D Tax Services are looking for a new R&D consultant to join our growing team in Portsmouth (Hampshire). The Tax Consultant will work on a consultancy basis providing specialist expertise in the area of R&D (Research and Development) to a wide range of clients in various industries. The key purpose of this role is to write technical reports for R&D tax claim credits.
The role of Tax Consultant is an in-house position, and comes with numerous competitive benefits including a company bonus and incentive schemes.
Working alongside one of the largest independent accountancy firms in Hampshire, there will many opportunities to take on additional projects and lead in specific areas of the business.
What you will do:
- Taking responsibility for managing a growing portfolio of clients, specifically supporting across R&D projects.
- Interviewing chief technical specialists and business owners to identify qualifying activities.
- Preparing comprehensive and clear reports for submission to HMRC, clearing explaining how clients R&D claims have been prepared.
- Representing and supporting the client in the event of a HMRC inquiry.
- Collaborating with the Business Development Team to identify potential new revenue streams and refining incoming prospects.
- Maintaining client information and claim data on a CRM system.
- Staying abreast of industry developments and legislative changes relevant to R&D tax relief and other innovation incentives further your knowledge and capabilities.
- Playing a key role in accelerating the growth of the business by identifying and securing new business opportunities.
What you will need:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working within Research and Development Tax ( R&D ) is desired but not essential.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent strong technical/ industry experience.
- Working knowledge of the BEIS Guidelines and the CIRD Manuals.
- Exceptional verbal and written skills, alongside strong numerical proficiency.
- The ability to explain complex legislation, terminology and concepts to people in a clear and understandable way.
- Strong attention to technical detail and first-time accuracy is essential.
- Project management skills and client relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to interact readily with other technical professionals, outstanding people skills and excel in the concise summary of information.
